Can dogs eat pineapple and is it good for them?

Veterinarians will tell you that pineapple is in fact extremely good for your dog, as long as it’s in small doses; it should be viewed as more of a treat, like ice cream is for humans. Because, as the say, “Too much of a good thing is always a bad thing”.

What kind of pineapple is good for my dog?

The pineapple you feed to your dog should be pure pineapple chunks. They should not have the skin on them, and you shouldn’t feed them the core, as this is extremely dangerous and could harm your dog.

Be sure to check for your dog’s response to pineapple

Different dogs will have different reactions to trying new things. If your dog is only a pup or it’s their first time having pineapple, only give them a tiny amount and then wait to see if they have a negative reaction to it, e.g. vomiting and diarrhoea. If it’s all clear, then they’re fine to continue eating it in larger quantities.

Well now you know the facts, you can go and treat your dog to a sweet fruity goodie…
